Introduction
POOLS CX is a Leonardo supported TOI (Transfer of Innovation) project based on the POOLS project (2005-2007). The project translates and adapts the POOLS project core results: Course Book on CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning), Course Description, ready to use exemplary CALL units in the three new languages, and DIY (Do It Yourself) videos, with subtitles, that demonstrate how to produce CALL materials.
After adaptation of materials the project consortium produces digital videos (20 for each of the new partner languages). Each video is transcribed and graded to match students according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. These videos, together with the adapted materials, are used for piloting teacher courses on producing CALL materials followed by how to apply such CALL materials in classes.

Following the pilot course and editing the materials, the courses are run by the Centres of Excellence in EL, IT, and TK as in-service teacher courses with the objectives to advocate and enable the use of CALL and through that to improve VET students' outcomes: CALL applied in a task based context or as part of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning).
POOLS CX covers modern European languages including LWUTL (Less Widely Used and Taught Languages). The emphasis on communicative language teaching encourages language learning in vocational contexts.

Innovation
POOLS CX adds value by adding three more languages. The transfer of innovation is not just a translation and adaptation exercise. After adapting the POOLS core outcomes (Course Book, Course Description, DIY videos, and CALL units), course participants from the EL, IT, and TK teams are coached in video recording and editing techniques, in software production, and in CALL methodologies suitable for CLIL and task based learning. The course participants then produce videos that can be used in multimedia applications for computer assisted language learning in EL, IT and TK.
You can experience how video, text, and easy authoring has resulted in online exercises in the three languages:
The exercises were produced as part of a pools-cx pilot course

The Project Aims and Objectives
Based upon the experience and expertise acquired by POOLS Center of Excellence in the University of Pitesti, the project aims at creating and developing Centers of Excellence in Italy, Greece, and Turkey. The transfer of innovation is also taking advantage of the expertise acquired in POOLS by the British, Danish, and Romanian partners. The project also wants to promote and exploit CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) in Italy, Greece, and Turkey.
Exploitation of the project outcomes starts with the first pilot course workshop and peer review, i.e. after the materials have been through the first adaptation and translation. In the first part of the project period most exploitation takes place in the partner institutions where VET teachers implement the adapted materials and test the acquired competencies from the pilot course workshop.
After the first workshop sequence and peer reviews, the exploitation takes the next steps and in-service courses following the same pattern are offered to teachers across Greece, Italy and Turkey. The project partnership also searches for other language projects and networks that may cluster with our efforts and benefit from the POOLS CX outcomes.
The project website, www.poolscx.eu, is based on merging with the existing website www.languages.dk. The structure of the portal includes: Project Documents, Partners, Texts and Videos, Teaching Materials, Teaching Methods, Piloting Materials, Project Blog, Project Forum, Cooperating Projects, News and Newsletters.
